Life is so fragile. You would never know when your time will be up. The ustaz in the kuliah subuh this morning reminded the congregation the same thing. You will never know. Anyway, I just want to say that when you lose someone that you love, it affects you tremendously. The 'severity' depends on the level of attachment that you have with that person. I lost Ibu last year. When she passed away, I felt helpless. Ibu was my source of strength. She was my pillar. She provided me with emotional support. Just imagine if you lose someone like that. The support is no longer there because the pillar has collapsed. It hits me hard. Sometimes, I wonder, will turn out any different, if Ayah passed away instead of Ibu. I don't want to think about it really but I know for sure the impact will be different. Fathers, or at least my father, does not give that emotional support as much as Ibu did. Let us face the fact. He is always out there working and providing us that material support. Yes, that is want I want to say. Material support. Ibu provides the emotional support and Ayah provides that material support. If you feel down and you need a little bit of a cheer up, who would you call? Your mom of course. If you need money, who would you call? Ya Allah, please take care of Ayah. Give him excellent health. Aamin.

Ibu passed away last year (Al Fatihah). It hits me hard but I can't imagine losing a children. That is like another level of hitting you hard. I just could not imagine how it is like to lose a children. The sadness is different regardless of the method of losing them i.e accident or illness. Death by accident is abrupt. By illness, well at least you have prepared mentally but still. The intensity of the sadness is still the same.

So, love your family. Treat them well. Make them happy. Enjoy every minute of their existence in this world.
Her class perform an arabic dance with Nour El Chams as the background music. She told us that the song is her secret. It will only be revealed during the ceremony. She didn't know that she just spilled the beans. I did my part by reminding everyone NOT TO disclose Nour El Chams as the background music.

In preschool ceremony, I think all kids got something to bring back home. Aisara got Best Hafazan. She also got Special Khalifah. Kinda like the best student in school. That came as a surprise, particularly me. This is because she is always late to school. I am sure that if there is an award the highest number of coming late to school, Aisara could have won. Fortunately, there is no such award. Anyway, she was in front of the dance pack. The teachers wanted her to do the introduce the group and performance which I am quite proud to see.

You did good Aisara. We all love you Biskut.
9th November

We all went to Penang on Saturday for a one night trip. It was actually Aisara's school trip. We kind of like tagging along. Aisara took the bus and we drove ourselves to all the stops. The first stop was Entopia Penang Butterfly Farm. We were like contemplating whether should we wait outside at the parking lot or we just go inside and enjoy the park. I decided to go inside and enjoy the park. It is a butterfly park. Not some aquarium or a zoo. And it was worth it. The ticket was quite expensive to me but worth it. Very educational for the kids. It turns out the butterfly park also has other cold-blooded animals like scorpions, frogs, cockroaches, spiders, centipedes, millipedes, geckos, lizards and others. I saw only one snake and one turtle. We spent around 3 hours at the park but it was fun. We even got to release newly formed butterflies.
Firstly, Adel is now in Standard 1. I think she is going to do well. Accompanied her on her first day and everything looks good. The only problem at the moment is to wake her up early in the morning and also the hectic schedule. But the thing about Adel now is that she is independent. Once she wakes up, she knows her way to the bathroom and getting herself ready for school.

Arissa is Standard 6 this year. Big exam this year. So, what should we do? Hahaha. Send tuition, set up timetable that kind of stuff. I think she needs tuition on Maths. Honestly, I do not believe in tuition if a student is determined and disciplined, they dont need no tuition but I guess Arissa is not like that. She needs to be pushed. She needs someone to tell her and guide her what to do. This week is the second as I am writing this. We should start strategizing now. The big goal is getting all As in her UPSR. Once you have that result, there will be a lot of options for you to choose. MRSM is one. I would love her to go these boarding schools. If that is the best for her education, than so be it.
What have our little family has become. Expanding!

Off this date. Arissa is 10 years old. Aryana is 8, Adelia is 5, Aisara is 3 and the latest addition to our family Ainura is 10 months. Anak dah pun 5 orang. Semua perempuan. It is a blessing. Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-64730766585183708012015-01-30T11:21:00.000+08:002015-01-30T11:21:03.836+08:002015 is a special year2015 is a special year. Why? because two of our family members begin a new chapter in their lives. Aryana will be in Standard 1 and Adel will begin her kindy at Dzuliman. As this post was written, they already began their schooling.

Aryana has to catch up and to adjust herself with the hectic timetable. She had so much rest when she was in Dzuliman. But I am sure, she will be okay. Adel is as usual. She likes school. So far, it is easy to prepare her for school but once in a while mood swings kick in and she will be that little slimy thing. :-))
That was in 2013. 1 year and 3 months later, I thought of writing an entry in this blog is again, concerning Dania Aisara. Let me just say the events that happen in which I will tell in this entry gives me and my wife the scare of our lives.

It all started on Monday 12 January 2015. Aisara had a little bit of fever. This mild fever began on Sunday. But we thought, okay, it is a mild fever and she looks normal as usual. 12 January 2015 is the first day of school for the year 2015. So, everyone was quite busy that day. My wife sent Arissa and Aryana (her first day of primary school) to school and I sent Adelia (her first day of kindy) to kindy and Aisara to nursery. Aisara still had that mild fever but I sent her anyway. Around 11 am, I got a call from my wife saying that Aisara has a fever (39 C). The nursery called and wanted us to take Aisara home. So, I took her home. Her caretaker said that her body is warm. He said it with a concern look on his face. I think that I should take that concern look more seriously.

We attended her the traditional way. We put wet towel on her forehead and all that stuff just to cool her down and reduce the temperature. Her body is still warm. We decided to take her to see Dr Yee. We normally don't go to clinic for fever. We just rub her body with wet towel and make her to wear ACV-soaked socks. More traditional. But for some reason, we gave in and sent her to the clinic.

At the clinic, Dr Yee recorded her temperature as 39 degrees. He gave us antibiotics and fever medicine. To be honest, I was hoping that he gave us more than just medicine. At least, gave us more information. But I think he must have a reason not to do so or the situation did not requires him to do so. So, we took her back.

I was already dozed off when I hear my wife screaming "tarik tarik. hantar hospital sekarang". I was jumping out of the bed. My wife was already in the bathroom pouring water on Aisara's head.

Baru sekarang saya tahu macamana rupanya kalau baby kena tarik.

Aisara kena tahan selama 3 hari. But now, alhamdulillah, Aisara has recovered. It has been two weeks now. Aisara is in her normal self. Cute as ever. You are so cute sayang. But still, the night still plays in our head. That look on Aisara's face is just something you don't want to see again.

The baby which we called unofficially Aisara spent her first night in Tronoh. Let just say that it was a sleepless night for all of us. All of us took turn in singing lullabies.

But as a matter of fact, we are all SO HAPPY and EXCITED to have Aisara. Thank you Allah. We all just can't get our eyes off her. That is what I felt when I recited the Azan and Iqamah and the two surahs Al Qadr and Al Ikhlas with a final surah Al Insyirah on her forelock. I just can't my eyes off her. I wanted to stay longer and just stare at her. That is what I felt. Every children has its moment and it is mostly indescribable. You can say that you are happy and excited but the feeling is more than that. It is indescribable.
After I settled the check-in, I made my way at Level 1 Maternity ward. I was told that the first induction took place at 8:20am. The medication will be given every 2 hours.

I am now sitting next to Mama's bed, she is asleep by the way, waiting for the delivering process to make its course. The induction was done twice already with the last one at 10:30am. Well, I can hear someone has just delivered a baby. I could hear the wailing. Was there another one? I could hear a baby crying and the nurse screaming 'teran lagi...teran lagi...sambung lagi....terus jer'. It is either there is another labor going on or the same mother giving birth to a twin. I am curious to know but I think it is none of my business.

I don;t know how long I am going to wait. I hope it will not be that long. We just want to get it over with.

Am I hearing this correctly that we are not yet settled with the name Dania Aisara. I think Dania Aisara is a cool name. Dania Afnin...sounds cool too.
Teka mana Aryana?

Mama and I will be quite busy tomorrow preparing ourselves mentally for the arrival of our new Dania. If new Dania is born tomorrow, she will have the same birthday as Aryana which I think is pretty cool. So, because of our tight schedule tomorrow, cutting cake ceremony for Aryana has to be done today.

Mama bought her a Despicable Me toy. I don't know what to give. I was thinking about colour pencils, crayons or something like that. I am not sure what she likes at the moment. She has been reading a lot of books but we lots of books AND we have already have lots of toys. Colouring utensils seems nice.
We have to be at the hospital around 0700 hrs. Admitted and warded around 0730 hrs. Induced and just wait for a miracle to happen.

I wish that I could witness the birth just like I did when Aryana was born.

We have to move from the house around 6:45am - 7am.
It seems that this tooth is going to give way to another tooth. Luckily there was a dentist nearby our housing area. We went there for the first time. I am sure that Arissa was very nervous about this trip :-))

The clinic was open. When wanted to register, the nurse said the she was not sure whether the dentist will be in. That is just dandy. How can you keep opening the clinic but simultaneously telling the patients that dentist might or might not be arriving. I think the nurse should just say that the dentist will not be coming and it will save us all the trouble.

But in the end, the dentist came after hearing that there was only two children who needs tooth repair. I think that if there are many adult patients, the dentist will not even bother to come. To cut it short, this dentist is a turn off.

It turns out that the dentist was not that bad after all. She handled Arissa well, which I think is good. Finally, the dentist decided not pull out the loose tooth. It is not troubling Arissa anyway and second of all, Arissa looked a bit terrified. So, there is no need to take out the loose tooth. Arissa looked relief. :-) The dentist said that Arissa's teeth is clean and looks perfectly balance. Aryana's teeth on the other hand, is....not so clean. As we all expected. :-))Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-53512913864909641472013-01-03T11:12:00.001+08:002013-01-03T11:13:26.051+08:00Aryana bisul di paha?Aryana komplen kaki sakit. Sikit sikit adoi...sikit adoi. Kekadang tu jalan pun macam tempang sikit.

Macam macam Aryana ni :-))Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-79903833066616146562013-01-03T01:21:00.001+08:002013-01-03T01:31:22.446+08:00Arissa's first day at school today.Arissa starts her standard 1 at Sek Keb Seri Iskandar today. Well, I can say that she survived her first day and it didn't surprised me at all. She is already used to it and furthermore, from what I have heard, her two best friends were there: Syira and Atikah.

The day before, I went to the school to register her, collected her textbooks and bought her some school stationaries. I also had the opportunity to listen to the briefing by the headmaster about school stuffs. So, I got to know more or less about KSSR curriculum, the role of PIBG, and many others policies in abbreviations that sounds weird. One thing that I am interested with is the fact the SKSI is the only school that offers mandarin class. I really hope that Arissa can join this class. Another option is Arabic but you can get Arabic classes everywhere.

The school also has a blog http://sksiaba8251.blogspot.com/

So, what can I say about Arissa first day at school. To begin with, I was not there :-)) but I have the feeling that she is going to be alright. Furthermore, it happens that Mama was also a teacher (also on her first day at school!). Secondly, I feel that Arissa is an independent girl. She is independent enough to be all on her own and I trust the teachers (I mean we should, right). The headmaster said during the briefing, once you dropped your kids at school, just leave them there. I thought of the same thing. Let them explore and let them experience that moment. I want my kids to be tough despite being girls.

Above all, I think Arissa is going to be okay. Study hard Arissa. You are 7 years old this year. Show examples to your other sisters.
It has been 6 years, this beautiful person come to our life. We are blessed and we thank Allah for allowing Arissa to be part of our life. I pray that I can stay a little longer on this earth to see Arissa grow up.

On this special day, we are about to get ready to go out and celebrate. This year might not be the best year that we have celebrated Arissa's birthday but it is the get together that counts. I personally enjoy Arissa's presence. Every minute of it. Just looking at her face, listening to all her questions is a blessing. As a father, I do get angry at times with her. I admit that I feel like screaming at the top of my lungs every time she do 'stupid' things but thinking about the cutest things she has done, really suppresses that anger quickly. And I think that is unfair to say 'stupid' things. She is a 6 years old and most of the time, I think, she do it because of she's just being herself i.e a kid. I do admit also that I get angry because of being at the wrong place and at the wrong time. But again, she is just a kid.

But deep down insider me, I love Arissa so much. So much so that words fail to describe my actually feelings towards my eldest. I love being with her, I love hugging her, I love watching her laugh, I love talking nonsense with her :-)) , Well, I love everything about her. I love you Arissa. Happy Birthday.

I guess everyone is waiting for me to get ready. Okay, we bought a birthday ice cream cake at Baskin Robbins. Arissa chose the cake and it was very very nice. Before that, we had dinner at Sushi King. After the cake at Baskin Robbins, we went to Popular and I told Arissa to choose one thing that she wanted the most. It turned out that she want stickers that cost RM9.90 phew! :-)) . Happy Birthday Arissa, again...and I love you..always have and always will.Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-79546131673741448142012-12-04T19:08:00.002+08:002012-12-04T19:08:42.138+08:00Tanah Aina TripOn the 1-2 December, we made a trip to Tanah Aina Farrah Soraya or easily known only as Tanah Aina. Tanah Aina itself has many eco-resorts but Tanah Aina Farrah Soraya is the most famous one. So, when the name Tanah Aina is mentioned, it is actually referring to Tanah Aina Farrah Soraya.

Nineteen of us (the whole clan) made the trip. It was supposed to be a Khairul Shafee's family trip but we thought, why not bring the whole gang. The more the merrier. It was a place or the type of vacation that we rarely go for. We opted for the 2 days 1 night. I regarded this trip as exploratory. If it is good as people say it is, we will go for the second time. Trip was not good, it was EXCELLENT. Creek, camping, jungle, trees, green, great food and to top it all, friendly staff...what more can we say. I think the most that we can opt for is a 3 days 2 night trip if you really want to relax that is. I promised a friend to share my experience in Tanah Aina and this is what I am doing.

Tanah Aina management dah ada itenerary. Check in at 12pm. I suggest that we follow this. We arrived at the car park of Tanah Aina around 12:15pm. A tractor and a jeep carried us and our luggage to the resort. At 12:30 we reach at the resort. Siap ada welcoming drink. We checked in, leave our bags first near the 'lobby' and headed for lunch. The buffet table is just next to the 'lobby'. 1:30pm we put our bags in our tent. 2:30pm is the jungle trekking and leap of faith. It is advisable to wear wet clothing because when you get back from the jungle trekking you are going to get wet indefinitely....at least your pants are going to get wet. If you decided to jump from a 15m platform, then the whole you will get wet.

I brought my whole troop. Arissa, Aryana and Adel. Arissa is 6 years old...no problem. Aryana is 4...she is quiet in the whole jungle trekking. Thanks to the Abang guide who carried her especially at those extreme slopes. Adel is1 year and she is on a strap the whole time. The rule of thumb is that, if you have a toddler age below 4, it is advisable to have an adult to tag along. The guide will help you and I have to say they are a friendly lot. I even saw one guide holding a child who is I think around 2 years old. One guide put my 3 year old nephew on his shoulder. The staffs at Tanah Aina is really good and friendly. I carried Adel on a strap. They were two rivers that you need to crossed. The first river is just at your waist. The second river, which is at the Leap of Faith area, is deeper. I have been told it is over your head. So, they use tyre tubes to transport you from the river bank to the Leap of Faith area. I, with Adel on me, boarded the tube and the staff push the tube with me on it, to the Leap of Faith area. I need to control my balance there. Risau jugak kalau jatuh but it turned out well. So, I think that you can bring your 1 year old if you have strap. I do not recommend 1 year old and below. Tapi penat jugaklah. The jungle trekking, pergi balik, took about 1 hour.

Petang is mandi time. The water at the creek was cool and refreshing. The best!. Night time was basically free time. There was a movie that they showed at the hall but we bunked in our tents instead. Penat!.

Day 2 - Morning walk to the peak of paradise. This one you do your own walking. No guide is necessary. However, it is advisable to go up early. Boleh tengok sunrise. Not that high. Tapi penat jugak lah nak berjalan ke atas tu. After morning walk is breakfast. After breakfast, mandi lagi. What else to do.

Overall, it was a good experience. I am impressed by the staff. Very nice always smiling despite most of them are foreigners. Bila nak balik, ada sorang siap minta maaf kalau ada salah silap.Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-24723520626837888962012-11-12T17:19:00.001+08:002013-01-03T01:32:51.116+08:00Arissa is Best Student 6 YearsMy my my...Arissa is best student 6 years. Congratulations Arissa. Papa is extremely proud of you. Words cannot describe how proud I am. Best subject Bahasa Melayu. 2nd Overall ranking and also Best student 6 years. I wish I was there cheering you on when your name was announced as the best student 6 years. But I was working. I have another cheering on at another place.

Anyway, I went to Toys R Us that night to buy your that Furby that you always wanted. I think you deserve that Furby. Love that Furby.

Ain't Furby cute?

I hope Aryana will follow her sister. She the most patient student. (Really? most patient?). I think the teachers have different version of the meaning of the word 'patient' than us. But still, a medal is a medal and still an accomplishment.

I never thought she would get best student but she did. My respect for Arissa grew that day. Well done Arissa. Remember, tangible results are secondary. Most important values and good islamic character.Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-90168950224476929312012-10-27T20:13:00.002+08:002012-10-27T20:15:47.931+08:00Clever Rabbit and the WolvesThis book is Arissa 12th book as far as we started counting and taking note of the books she read.
The rabbit in this story is indeed clever. Never thought that the rabbit could fool the wolves like that. But no animal can challenge our Sang Kancil. :-))

What are our favorite colors? Just to start the morning discussion, I told the girls that my favorite colors are BLACK, WHITE and GREEN. All these colors have its own meaning but I wont discuss it in here. So, I asked the girls, in English (which I expect the answer to be in English too), what are their favorite colors. These are their responses.

Arissa:" I like PINK, LIGHT BLUE, YELLOW and RED"
Aryana:" I like PURPLE, GREEN and ORANGE"

Arissa keeps on forgetting when I asked again but Aryana was quite consistent. Asked her the second time, the same three colors she gave me. I am sure that we could find some articles out there about personality based on favorite colors. Need to find those articles. Just for the fun of it.Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-35382619584799413482012-10-09T09:16:00.001+08:002012-10-09T09:16:21.110+08:00Welcome to Hotel Transylvania

Aryana, free rider. :-)). Tak payah dapat 6 stars pun boleh pergi. Untung lah Yana ni.
Macam mana cerita Hotel Transylvania (HT). Ceritanya memang kelakar. Bermula dari Count Dracula (vlah..vlah..vlah...) sampailah kepada Wayne the Werewolf. Cakap pasal karekter, Aryana minat pada Count Dracula. "Sebab dia handsome"...amboi Aryana...You are ONLY 4!. Arissa, being the girly type, dia suka Mavis, anak Count Dracula.

Pengenalan pada watak watak monster seperti Frankenstein, the Mummy agak menarik tapi mungkin humournya agak berlebihan. But overall, kami enjoy cerita ni. Khairul Shafee Kalidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14939124112624978762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215073153118592262.post-88764973184624746452012-09-24T18:07:00.001+08:002012-09-24T18:07:53.843+08:00Another Cooking Class--> a backdated entry <---

yesterday, we went to register Arissa & Aryana for the music classes..yes, we want to expose them with lots of activities as to nurture them with their choices of interests...we hope they will get to try out in different activities, and as a way for them to get to know about themselves and their abilities..so that they will know that they are special in any other way...

so..they will start off with the basic music classes..until grade 4...after that, onlye then they will get to choose what music instruments that they want to play..and as far as now...arissa said, she wants to play the drum..and as for aryana..she wants to play the guitar..so we just wait n see whether the choices of the instruments maintain until they finish their basic music class...

the class will be on every thursday starting on the 4th of October 2012...
